Retain the original combination

Record wire and terminal identities, tooling, steps and photographs. Repeated pressing can obscure the original defect; separate initial samples from reworked ones. In repeated production, identify whether the issue follows a material batch, tool or station.

Looseness has several possible causes

An oversized barrel, missing strands, insufficient insertion or a mismatched die can reduce retention. Review these inputs before considering tool maintenance or adjustment. A ratchet does not identify component dimensions or conductor condition.

Investigate split insulation

A split sleeve may involve material, die position or compression conditions. Identify whether damage occurs near the barrel or support region and verify the die for the terminal construction. Matching colors do not establish matching structures; do not adjust settings merely to hide an appearance defect.

Appearance and performance checks

Visual checks reveal some insertion, strand and forming defects. Dimensional, pull-force or electrical checks need the component and project methods. An informal hand pull is not a substitute. Record the object, conditions and result for later review.
