Connection accessories include ferrules, ring and fork terminals, blade connections and system-specific termination parts. They connect a conductor to a terminal block, stud, contact or another wire. Each construction imposes different preparation, forming and clearance requirements, so define the accessory before selecting the tool.

A useful assortment reduces mismatches rather than treating similar-looking terminals as universal parts.

The metal portion makes the conductor connection; an insulating sleeve covers or supports the relevant area; the ring, fork or mating end establishes the interface. These functions should stay distinct. An insulation sleeve does not increase conductor area, and a connector is not automatically an overcurrent-protection device.
Material, plating and insulation selection depend on electrical and environmental requirements. Do not assume every metallic terminal is copper or identify plating by color alone. Projects requiring material traceability should retain part numbers and supplier material information.
Ferrule metal length must suit the terminal clamping area. Too short may not cover the required region; too long may leave unwanted exposed metal. Collar diameter also affects adjacent entries and narrow spaces. Conductor cross-section is only one dimension.
Ring and fork terminals require checks of stud hole, terminal width and surrounding clearance as well as barrel size. The same stud hole does not establish the correct conductor range; terminals for the same wire size can have different mounting holes.
Establish an assortment around representative interfaces. Prepare wire and terminal samples, review insertion, crimping and installation space, then qualify the connection as the project requires. This creates a reusable pairing rather than a large stock of superficially similar parts.
Replenish by established part numbers and conditions. Even a substitute marked for the same wire size may differ in metal length, insulation shape or interface dimensions. Record packaging and model changes to prevent mixed stock.
