Identify the part acted on by the tool
Crimping jaws surround and form a copper ring. A clamp tool acts on the prescribed closure feature. Contact location and forming method differ; trial pressing with another tool does not establish compatibility.

Tubing and fitting still need to match
After choosing a method, establish tubing, insert fitting and ring or clamp compatibility. The same nominal size does not answer every question. Retain system and part identities when changing sources rather than substituting similar-looking parts.
Inspection follows the joining method
Copper rings may use the gauge required by the system; clamps are checked by their closure design and manufacturer method. Do not transfer one inspection procedure to another construction. Component checks are followed by the required system tests.
Reading the standard references
F1807 and F2159 concern insert fittings of different materials, F2098 the relevant stainless clamps and F1960 cold expansion. Identify subject and edition separately; these numbers do not combine into a tool certification. The family page links to publisher scopes.
