Axial location determines where the tool forms

A locator establishes the specified axial contact position. The working area must act on the prescribed barrel region, not the mating surface, shoulder or retention feature. A contact seated too deep or shallow can receive neat marks in the wrong place.

Look up pins and sockets separately

Pins and sockets in the same series may have different rear geometry or locating requirements. Use the full contact part number rather than a housing family or photograph alone. Base locator, tool and wire combinations on the component documentation.

Adjustment numbers are not universal wire sizes

An adjustment scale represents a setting in a particular tool system, not automatically mm² or AWG. Recheck the tooling table, locating and formation after changes. Carrying over a number without workpiece identity removes its context.

Assembly checks after termination

After crimping, follow the pinout, insert into the correct cavity and confirm retention. Complete seals, shields and strain relief by the connector instructions. Use the designated extraction method instead of pulling on the wire.
